First Visit, Child
The first step to effective speech-language pathology intervention is an individual, in-depth assessment of speech, language and/or feeding skills. All assessments include clinical observations as well as standardized and non-standardized evaluation tools. Upon completion of testing, a diagnosis is formulated and a comprehensive report is written along with an individualized plan of care outlining the course of treatment
If you have concerns about your child’s speech or language skills, please call 978-844-1928 to schedule a FREE pediatric screening to determine if a full assessment is recommended.
At the initial visit, please bring any previous speech evaluations, medical records, educational plans and reports, psychological, and neuropsychological evaluations that provide a clear picture of your child's communication profile. The first visit is typically an informal assessment and all information will be used to determine whether more formal testing is necessary. Parent questions and concerns will be addressed, and observations and recommendations of your child will be provided. This will include the frequency of speech services recommended and suggested activities to carry out at home.
